On Feb. 11, 2016, Marysville Care Center in Marysville, Washington, hosted its annual Sweethearts Dinner with a record attendance.
Sixty-five residents and their family members enjoyed the special meal, filling the dining room and therapy gym. The dietary team pulled out all the stops on the three-course Italian meal, which included Caesar salad; fresh-baked bread; spaghetti and meat sauce, chicken fettuccini or cheese tortellini; cheesecake and mousse.
A local harpist provided music for the couples as they ate and visited.
“The harp was outstanding, an elegant touch to a fabulous evening,” said Lynn Ellis, president of the Resident Council.
The event was a great way for everyone to celebrate the holiday, whether married couples spending the meal together or residents who had lost loved ones sharing the moment surrounded by family members, friends and other residents.
“We were excited to learn that two of the couples that were seated together would both be celebrating their 69th wedding anniversary this coming fall,” said Heather Hartman, activity director. “The couples were grateful to have such a nice Valentine’s date night.”
