On Aug. 12, 2017, Marysville Care Center in Marysville, Washington, partnered with three local soccer teams from the Pilchuck Soccer Alliance to organize a car wash to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association.
“We have had and currently have several residents inflicted with Alzheimer’s disease,” said Heather Hartman, activity director. “We’ve had associates with mothers, fathers, aunts and uncles all affected by this disease.”
Approximately 20 associates worked at the car wash, as well as the soccer teams. They had a steady stream of cars for around four hours and raised more than $750.
“Alzheimer’s disease is so close to my heart,” said Hartman. “I am hoping that our little car wash will be a ripple in the bigger picture of finding a cure and that the people who came through our car wash will go home and research into this disease and find ways to help.”
